On the southern end of the great East African Rift Valley lies a special place: a place where you lift your head out the water after a warm dive in the tropical freshwater amid the islands of huge granite boulders to hear African Fish Eagles call from the tops of the Baobab avenues on the beaches. The people are kind, the food is welcoming and the nature uplifting, this is Malawi: The Warm Heart of Africa!

What you’ll need

  • Good hat & sunscreen
  • Poncho for possible rainy days and a good thermal jumper/top (nights can get cold, even in summer)

DAY 1

Airport Pickup & Accommodation

Pick-up from Lilongwe International Airport
Scenic drive through the hilly forests and plantations to our lodging in the mountainous and green northern Malawi

DAYS 2 & 3

Exclusive Diving & Kayaking

2 Dives (including a night dive to see the pod of dolphin fish) in the northern Lake Malawi National Park, part of the Great East-African Rift Valley (great place to see species of tropical fish found nowhere else on earth, dramatic rock formations, caverns and cliffs)
Exploring the beautifully forested area and the lake by means of various activities offered, including kayaking, hikes, SUP and more…

DAYS 4 - 5

Excursive Diving & Scenic Drive

Scenic drive along the lake to Cape Maclear Nature Reserve in the South, renowned for its large granite islands and baobab-strewn savanna (afternoon stop in Senga Bay)
2 Dives along the islands in the southern part of Lake Malawi National Park (great place to see tropical fish, incredible rock formations, swim-throughs, artificial reefs and to do wall-dives)
Afternoon boat cruise to the resident hippo community and pairs of fish-eagles

DAYS 6 & 7

Game Drive & Boat Safari

Drive to Liwonde National Park (great place to see black rhino, elephant and hippo, not forgetting a wide array of beautiful bird species)
Afternoon and morning game drives as well as an optional walking safari on the private concession within the park (time permitting, depending on flights)
Boat Safari on the Shire River

Return

Transfer to Chileka (Blantyre) / Lilongwe International Airport
