What you’ll need

  • Hiking backpack (30 – 45 litre with a 2-litre water bladder is recommended, the lighter and more compact, the better while not compromising practicality. Extra water, medical kits and any shared supplies will be carried by guides, you only carry your personal belongings)
  • Good walking shoes
  • Bush neutral clothing for bush walks (shades of brown, light brown, olive, khaki or camo preferably). Please also note that it is advised to wear pants, not shorts.
  • Good hat & sunscreen
  • Poncho for possible rainy days and a good thermal jumper/top (nights can get cold, even in summer)
  • Cash for bar bills and days where lunch is not providedOptional:

Pick-up & Scenic Drive

DAYS 2 & 3

River Cruise & Nature Park

Day visit to Cape Vidal, located within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park with a stop at Mission Rocks

Guided half-day safari to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (good chances to see the Big 5) with an afternoon river cruise to see the largest breeding population of hippos in the world

Exploring the beautiful town and lagoon area of St Lucia (wonderful birding opportunities with even small chances of seeing hippos walking around town at night)

DAYS 4 - 5

Sunset Boat Cruise

Beautiful drive up the coast through tropical savanna and fever tree forests to our accommodation in Kosi Bay

3-lake sunset boat cruise on the Kosi Lakes system

Turtle tour to Bhanga Nek for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Loggerhead or Leatherback turtles laying eggs or eggs hatching (laying Nov – Dec, hatching Jan-Feb)

Visit to the Kosi Bay estuary to see the traditional Thonga fishing kraals with an opportunity for snorkeling in the estuary

DAY 6 - 7

Sodwana Bay

Short drive to our diving base in the beautiful Sodwana Bay with setup & dive planning

3 tropical reef dives in Sodwana Bay with great chances to see an array of tropical fish as well as any macro life passing by on their annual migrations

DAYS 8

Palm Forest & National Nature Monument

Scenic drive down the coast toward Mtunzini, an unspoilt forested paradise on the coast with a visit to the Raphia Palm forest, which is regarded as a National Natural Monument.

Check-in and stay at the beautiful colonial Zululand Country Lodge

DAY 9

Return

Transfer to King Shaka International Airport.
