Join us in crossing the equator into tropical Africa, get closer to nature on our game drives, and boat trip to our off-shore accommodation, bush drives into Uganda and hike the gorilla trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

What’s Included?

All accommodation (8 nights in Rwanda, 7 nights in Uganda, all accommodation rated 4-star or higher)

Akagera National Park (great chances to see the Big 5 in an area making breakthroughs on the front line of conservation) and Queen Elizabeth National Park (home to the famous tree-climbing Lions)
Gorilla day-trek in search of the critically endangered Mountain Gorilla in the vast jungles of equatorial Africa
Choice between visit to volcanic crater-lake on top of Mount Bisoke on the border between Rwanda and DRC, a hike to Diane Fossey’s Karisoke Research station or trek to see golden monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park
Lake Kivu visit and island boat trip – situated on the great East African Rift Valley, the nearly 500m-deep lake offers spectacular views throughout the day (possibility to see the Straw-coloured Fruit Bat as they congregate on these islands every year)
Visit to the acclaimed Source of the Nile on Lake Victoria with an included boat cruise on the Victoria Nile
Visit to cultural Women’s Centre & initiative for a local cooking course and to see how the famous (or infamous) Banana Beer is brewed

What you’ll need

Day pack (20-30 litre with a 2-litre water bladder is recommended, the lighter and more compact, the better while not compromising practicality)
Good walking shoes
Bush neutral clothing for bush walks & forest treks (shades of brown, light brown, olive, khaki or camo preferably). Please also note that it is advised to wear pants, not shorts.
Good hat & sunscreen
Poncho for possible rainy days and a good thermal jumper/top (nights can get cold, even in summer)
Cash for bar bills and days where lunch is not provided
Optional:

Binoculars & cameras
Insect repellent (wonderful eco-friendly options such as Citronella or Eucalyptus are available and recommended)

Evening Game Drive

Pick-up from Kigali International Airport
Scenic drive to our accommodation located inside Akagera National Park
Evening game drive

DAYS 2 & 3

Guided Game Drive

Guided game drives (good chances of seeing the Big 5) including a bush walk to get closer to nature and experience the smaller beauties that make up this wonderful part of our world
A look at the natural systems and conservation initiatives taking place on Akagera

DAYS 4 - 5

Boat Trip and Exploration

Scenic drive to Kibuye on Lake Kivu including a stop in Kigali to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial
Boat trip to our off-shore accommodation from Kibuye
Exploring the area & lake by means of various activities offered (including kayaking, visit to a nearby coffee washing station, etc)

DAYS 6 - 8

Golden Monkey Trek

Boat trip back to Kibuye & beautiful drive along the lake to the Northern Province of Malawi with a stop at Gisenyi, the beautiful border town with DRC before we make our way to Musanze (previously Ruhengeri)
Day hike to Volcanoes National Park (with an option to climb Mt Bisoke to visit the crater-lake, to visit Karisimbi Research Station or go an a golden monkey trek)
Visit to a local cultural women’s centre and initiative for a Rwandan local cooking course and to take part in the process of banana beer production (if in season)
Rwanda farewell party

DAY 9

Crossing into Uganda

RWANDA ONLY OPTION: Transfer to Kigali Intl Airport
Crossing into Uganda & drive up towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for check-in & relaxing time

DAY 10

Gorilla Trek

Gorilla Trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve

DAY 11 - 12

Guided Game Drive

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check-in at our accommodation
Guided game drive safaris to see the vast wildness of Africa (great chances of seeing the famous tree-climbing lions)
Boat cruise safari

DAYS 13 - 14

White River Rafting

Transfer to Jinja and the Source of the Nile on Lake Victoria.
Option between White River Rafting on the Nile River and any of the other activities offered at our accommodation
Boat sunset cruise on the River Nile to have a relaxing end to the trip

DAY 15

Return

Transfer to Entebbe International Airport
